Dr. Jonas Ludvigsson

SOLNA, SWEDEN — A Swedish pediatrician and epidemiologist is quitting his research career because telling the truth is no longer acceptable.

Dr. Jonas Ludvigsson is a Professor of Epidemiology and Biostatistics at Karolinska Institutet in Solna, Sweden. He is also a pediatrician at Örebro University Hospital. He has received numerous academic awards, including the “Rising Star in Gastroenterology” from the European Gastroenterology Association in 2010. Dr. Ludvigsson is also on the Editorial Boards for the European Journal of Epidemiology and the journal Alimentary, Pharmacology & Therapeutics. His reputation and credentials are impeccable. But peer-reviewed truth about COVID-19 has become heresy and “conspiracy theory” in 2021.

His letter to the New England Journal of Medicine editor was published on January 6. It outlined his findings from a data analysis on Swedish schoolchildren from March to June 2020. Only 17 kids age 1-16 were treated in intensive care units for COVID-19 during that time period. That equates to 0.77 children per 100,000. Four of those children had underlying conditions, and none of them died. Few kids and teachers (who had a 19 in 100,000 ICU rate for COVID-19) wore masks. Sweden is one of few countries that kept schools open during the spring of 2020.

The study survived four rounds of revisions before publishing. It also underwent external peer review and statistical peer review.

Harassment for undermining the fear narrative

Dr. Ludvigsson has since endured endless threats and attacks via email and social media. He told the Swedish Medical Journal (Lakartidningen) that he could no longer sleep at night and, as a result, “lost his appetite” for researching and speaking out about COVID-19.

Swedish and other Scandinavian lawmakers are now considering legislation to protect academic freedom. Ole Petter Ottersen, president of Karolinska Institutet, told the British Medical Journal that tough debate and diverse opinions based on evidence are vital to science.

“Hateful and scornful accusations and personal attacks cannot be tolerated,” Otterson said. “Researchers retreat from the public debate after being threatened or harassed. It happened in my own institution when a leading researcher just decided to give up his Covid-19 research for those reasons.”

Fear COVID or be cancelled

Dr. Ludvigsson is not alone when it comes to backlash for telling the truth. Dr. Phil McGraw received backlash last year for saying COVID lockdowns are unjustified and ineffective.

Dr. Mehmet Oz correctly advocated for hydroxychloroquine, the anti-malaria drug with at least 180 peer reviewed studies showing that it is highly effective against COVID-19. Mainstream media dismissed him as a “quack” doctor after propping him up for years.

Dr. Drew Pinsky also faced the cancel-culture crowd for his statements about the COVID-19 agenda.

Malcolm X once said, “I’m for truth, no matter who tells it.” Nobel and Pulitzer Prize-winning novelist William Faulkner said, “Never be afraid to raise your voice for honesty and truth and compassion, against injustice and lying and greed.” It is up to you to stand your ground in truth, fearlessly and forcefully, in this world of mass manipulation. The responsibility is yours. Don’t run from it.

i speak for so many when i thank you for all your efforts. our youngest daughter [20’s] broke down over the weekend at the utter bleakness of a world under globalisation confronting her generation- a generation who sadly, unlike all previous- dont think they have to stand up & fight
